The Die is Cast

Bones of steel, the weight bestowed
Flesh of rust, the veins corrode
Treads carve graves in lifeless ground
Where steel and flesh alike are drowned

The earth drinks deep, blackened rain
The sky bears witness to their pain

A thunderous roar
The flames ignite

Fire, fire – blast!
Broken at last
Armor crushed, torn from the past
The die is cast

Thunder cracks, the barrel screams
A shell unleashed to shatter dreams
Steel collides, the heavens break
A final breath, the earth will shake

Now remains, a hollow frame
A shell of war with none to name
Forced to watch the embers glow
Trapped beneath the ashen snow

A thunderous roar
The flames ignite
The ground is torn
A final strike

Fire, fire – blast!
Broken at last
Armor crushed, torn from the past
The die is cast

Left to rust, alone
Steel lies cold in endless night
No dawn will ever show
Buried deep beneath the fight
Shattered bones in fading light

Fire, fire – blast!
Broken at last
Armor crushed, torn from the past
The die is cast

Fire, fire – blast!
Broken at last
Armor crushed, torn from the past
The die is cast

War was their life, now nothing remains
Rusted and rotted, swallowed by flames
